Nairobi - The Director of Public Prosecutions DPP has received 25 files for prosecution over corruption from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC.
The DPP has received the files, according to EACC CEO Halakhe Waqo.
" The DPP has in his posession 25 files for prosecution, he said in a statement Thursday.
Of the 25, 7 files are to be looked at by the DPP as they are ready for prosecution.
" Out of the 25 files, seven files have been cleared and forwarded to the DPP for his decisions," Waqo added.
The 25 are part of the 175 files that the EACC has in its posession detailing corruption in the Public Service.
They 175 names were contained in a report released by president Uhuru Kenyatta in Parliament in March.
The president gave the EACC 60 days to persecute the cases and ordered public officials mentioned to step aside whilst investigations continued.
Cabinet Secretaries have so far resigned from office.
Among the 7 files is that of Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter, who is accused of trying to intimidate officials at a weight bridge to have an illegal trailer released from the facility.
Another includes that of Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria who is said to have sworn a false statement in the self-declaration form he submitted to the EACC in December last year.
