Nairobi - An accident has occurred along the Kericho- Nakuru highway, when a matatu veered of the road and plunged into a valley leaving three dead.
The accident occured just after 3PM when the matatu driver lost control and the vehicle landed in a valley at the small town of Chepsir along the busy highway.
Witnesses said that there were three people who dies on the spot, with others critically injured, with unconfirmed reports stating that there could be more casualties.
Traffic commandant Samuel Kimaru said that police were at the scene dealing with the incident.
" There has been an accident but we are yet to fully know or understand what transpired but officers are on the ground dealing with the situation.
The accident will be a reminder to the government and the public over the danger on Kenyan roads, one which needs to be curbed through stringent measures.
" We are coming up with a formula to deal with this situation but so far we have been working hard and the fruits are there to be seen with the reduced number of accidents so far this year, Kimaru added.
