Kenyans urged to be vigilant

21 May 2012, 14:38Onyango Alfred

Kenyans have been asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious character to police.

The PS in the Ministry of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security E. Muteya Iringi has assured Kenyans that the information will be  treated with utmost secret it deserves. The PS gave the assurance as the world celebrated the World's Anti-terrorism day.

He also said the terror groups have been recruiting and using Kenyans to launch attacks within our borders. He said these during an exclusive interview with Easy Fm today morning.

The government has tried and still trying it level best to combat terrorism in the country for instance by creating anti-terror unit of the police force, boosting security in worst stricken areas with insecurity by deploying more forces to such areas like Turkana.

" The current citizen to police ratio is about one to five hundred which means the police cannot be at every corner at all times," said the PS. It is us who are with this people launching the attack every now and then."

They are our our brothers, sisters, parents or relatives. He also added that once they join these groups they are drilled and they will not spare anybody.

Since October to date seventeen people have passed away and scores injured in different attacks in the country. The attacks are terrorists work and should not be linked to any religion, ethnic group or certain region of Kenya.
