Kenyans have been lied to on Garissa attack, ODM claims

21 April 2015, 13:01 William Korir

Nairobi - The Orange Democratic Movement ODM says that the public has been lied to by the government about the Garissa University terror attack.

The party insists that Kenyans have yet to be told the real truth regarding the attack and states that the government must tell Kenyans exactly what happened.

In a statement, ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba says that the public has not been told the truth about the attacks and says Kenyans have to be told the reality.

" ODM demands a clear, credible and time-bound programme for restoring security for Kenyans, it said Tuesday.

" We demand that Kenyans be told the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, on what happened in Garissa," said Ababu in a statement read on behalf of the party.

The statement comes a few days after allegations that there are still students missing over two weeks since the attack took place.

University lecturers stated that close to 160 students are still unaccounted for.

There were also issues as to how the government handled the rescue mission with stories emanating as to why police officers were denied a plane to take them to Garissa whilst it was on a private mission to Mombasa.

The government has insisted that it did its best to save as many people as possible from the attack, saving over 600.

Further, there has been the matter of Leader of majority Aden Duale claiming he knows those behind terrorism, leading to a serious back and forth between government officials.
