Nairobi - Footballer Osborne Monday has been taken from his house by unknown men and taken to an unknown location, his club Tusker FC has announced.
Monday was allegedly picked up from his home in Umoja Estate in Nairobi Wednesday morning by ten men in two Toyota Probox Vehicles, claiming to be police officers.
He was then taken to an unknown location.
At the time of his capture, his mum and son were at his house. Their mobile phones, as well as Monday's were all confiscated.
Tusker confirmed the incident in a press statement.
" One of our own Osborne Monday went missing yesternight after 10 people riding in 2 Probox went to his house and claimed to be policemen. The mother who had come to visit was not even allowed to look at the number plate of the vehicle as all their phones were taken away from them,” the club said in a statement.
His teammates have launched a campaign through the hashtag #WhereIsMonday to clamour for his release.
Thus far, he has yet to be located in any police station, and police are yet to release a statement on the matter.
" We are in the dark and know nothing," a close friend of Monday's told News24.
Monday has formerly played for Mathare United and Azam in Tanzania and is aged 30.
