Kampala - A Kenyan has reportedly conned 21 Bangladeshi men by promising them jobs in the UN but ended up dumping them in Uganda.
According to one of the Bangladeshi men, Ali Pandasra, the man who promised them jobs in the UN claimed he was a Kenyan working in the very organization that he was getting them jobs.
''Each of us paid 6 000 US dollars for transport and for him to connect us to UN jobs. We were shocked when we ended up being dumped in Uganda,'' Pandasra said.
The deputy Chief of the anti -trafficking department in Uganda, Agnes Igoe said that they are hunting for those involved in the scam.
She said the con took the men to Uganda after promising them UN jobs in South Sudan, Angola and south Africa.
"He rented a house in the outskirts of Kampala at Nabweru trading centre where he left them without basic requirements.
"We are working with the regional Bangladeshi embassy in Nairobi to help these men with food and basic requirements and to also transport them back to their homeland,'' she said.
