With the onset of rains everyone has been upbeat over an end to power black outs owing to the increase in water supply. However, the exact opposite has exactly been the case-an exponential increase in power outages which go for long periods of time.
For instance, some parts of Umoja have been without power for the past three days despite desperate calls to the Kenya Power to fix the problem.
There have also been reports of power surges in other estates which has left some of the residents' equipment like televisions and microwaves blown.
This therefore raises a lot of questions as to the capacity of KPLC bearing in mind that it is a monopoly.
Some economic analysts have suggested that the opening up of the market could encourage better service delivery by the power supplier. Let us therefore just wait and see the situation unfolds even as we wait for uninterrupted power supplies.
