Karuturi raging for Ulinzi’s scalp

17 February 2012, 14:27 John Maigwa

Nairobi - Karuturi Sports are highly charged as they prepare to face former Champions Ulinzi Stars in the only Kenyan Premier League match slated for this Saturday. The match that wioll be live on Supersport 9 east will be played at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

Ulinzi Stars started the league on a bad footing losing 2-1 to KCB away at the City Stadium on Sunday while Karuturi started with a barren draw at the “Old Trafford” in Naivasha.

The flower men have never beaten Ulinzi Stars both at home or away, with the best result between the two being a draw. They have also managed to score only one goal in all the six matches they have played since 2009.

New Karuturi coach Michael Nam has vowed to down the soldiers at their own home turf adding that its high time the flower men stamp their authority.

“We are going for nothing short of a win and we are not afraid of Ulinzi. They might be a big team and playing at home but that does not mean that we are cowardly. The history might not be on our side but we will battle for our pride”, he says.

His counterpart Benjamin Nyangweso is cautious in his approach though he says that they will be gunning for a win after starting the league on a losing note.

“We want to regain our footing by winning this match. The league is hard and you do not want to start dropping points early. My players are up to the task and they are charged for a win”, Nyangweso says.

The match will begin at 2pm Kenyan time (3pm CAT).
