Nairobi - Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has joined a section of politician allied to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party in endorsing Stephen Kariuki to carry the party’s flag in the upcoming by-election in Mathare Constituency.
Kidero assured Kariuki of his support when he visited him at City Hall on Monday morning.
“CORD has only one candidate in the Mathare by-election. Steven Kariuki has my support and that of ODM,” Kidero said.
The seat fell vacant following the nullification of the election of George Gichohi as the MP for the constituency by the Court of Appeal.
Kariuki was assured of ODM’s direct nomination to vie for the seat by Ababu Namwamba at a church service in Nairobi on Sunday.
The electoral commission is yet to announce the date for the by-election.
