Apart from being academic giants in West Pokot County, Kapenguria boys has added another feather to their cap by winning the districts Hand Finals which they played against The Karenger school. The games were held at Nasokol Girls secondary School.

Ironically, these two schools who reached the finals are the same schools who were positions one and two in the district respectively in the 2011 KCSE exams announced recently.

Kapenguria Boys beat The Karenger by 11 goals to 4 to win the Finals.

In the girls category Tartar Girls, a National school defeated Nasokol Girls to the crown after the matches they had played from the preliminaries were considered, where in the preliminaries Tartar had beaten all the three teams including Nasokol while Nasokol had won only two matches . These two teams reached the finals but due to the history of hostility between them, confrontation was avoided as both teams were already proceeding to the regionals.
In Kwanza District, Anderson Secondary school from Endebess claimed the handball trophy in boys category, by beating Namanjalala secondary school in the finals, a match played at Kolongolo Secondary school. Namanjalala had reached the finals by eliminating the districts defending champions Goseta Boys by 27 goals to 23 while Anderson had beaten Kobos secondary 23 goal to 13.
In the finals Anderson beat Namanjalala 30 goals to 29 goals in favour of Anderson.

In girls' category, Kolongolo Secondary eliminated Defending Champions Bishop Muge Girls High school by white washing them 34 goals to 11, a stunning reality check for the defending champions.

The four teams who played in the finals, Bishop Muge Girls high School, Kolongolo Secondary School, Namanjalala and Anderson will proceed to the regionals to be played on Friday next, on 30th March, 2012, at Manor house High School in Kitale.
