Kamotho to be buried on Wednesday

15 December 2014, 11:42 Joseph Njung'eh

Nyeri - Former Mathioya MP and Cabinet Minister, Joseph Kamotho, will be laid to rest on Wednesday at his rural home in Njumbi village, Murang’a County.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Chege Kirundi said the venue for meetings to arrange for the funeral has been moved from Muthangari Catholic Church to Kiriti Secondary School grounds.

Murang’a Governor, Mwangi Wa Iria said the County government will support Kamotho’s family to meet the hospital bill incurred when he was undergoing treatment in and outside the country.

Wa Iria said the government will also commit one of the County government officials to join the family and friends in arranging for the funeral which is expected to be attended by senior government officials among other dignitaries.

He said Kamotho will be remembered and honoured for boosting the quality of primary and secondary education in the area.

“The education standards in Murang’a have deteriorated greatly in the recent past. The way to honour our former Minister is to improve the quality of education in the county,” said the governor.

He termed the former legislator as a leader who was loyal and dedicated to the government he served.

“I wish we can have leaders today who can serve their regimes with Kamotho’s passion,” said Wa Iria during a visitation with the family of the deceased.

Kamotho passed on last week in a South African Hospital while undergoing treatment.
