Nairobi - Transport CS Michael Kamau has been arrested and taken to court to answer to abuse of office charges.
Kamau was picked up by Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC detectives Thursday morning in Nairobi, processed for arrest and then taken to the anti corruption Court.
He will plead to charges of abuse of office after being ordered to by High Court before Judge Mumbi Ngugi.
Kamau was forced to attend court after Ngugi Wednesday threw out his application which put in question the role of President Uhuru Kenyatta in his arrest.
He claimed that the President interfered in his case by releasing the list of shame but the EACC and DPP argued that his claim was incorrect because the two bodies had started proceedings against him before the President named the list.
He is the first Cabinet Secretary to be arrested and taken to court over involvement in corrupt activities by the EACC after the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP agreed that he has a case to answer.
Kamau was among 175 public officers named by the EACC report on corruption in the Public Service.
