Kamau: Duale threatened me

07 April 2014, 18:59 William Korir

Nairobi - Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau has claimed that majority leader in parliament Aden Duale threatened him over his stance on the war on terror.

The MP, speaking at parliament buildings Monday, says that Duale threatened him and used ethnically derogatory statements against him in a text message concerning the current war on terror.

Duale has come in for criticism lately over his comments on the Jubilee government's incursion on the Somali community.

The government has raided the Eastleigh area in Nairobi as well as many parts of Mombasa following the increased cases of terrorism in the country.

Duale and Somali leaders affiliated to Jubilee have said that they will break ranks with the government over the matter but have been accused of harbouring terrorists.

According to the Kigumo MP, Duale sent him the text message after he supported the war on terror by the government in a TV show on Monday.

"You are too small and an ethnic idiot to be known in this country",Kamau read while showing members of the press the alleged text message.

Another of the alleged messages had Duale saying that he would do whatever is in his power to protect his people from harassment.

Kamau was flanked by several TNA MPs and ODM 's Simba Arati who also accused Duale of failing to protect the interests of Kenyans as he should.

" It is unfortunate that he has gone down a route that he should not have, considering his place in the public domain, Arati said.

Despite the protestations by Duale and Somali leaders, the government has insisted that it will continue with the crackdown until the incidences of terrorism are over.
