Kalonzo is not a land grabber, Ngilu says

13 July 2015, 20:00 William Korir

Nairobi - Suspended Lands CS Charity Ngilu says that CORD co Principal Kalonzo Musyoka is not a land grabber and has accused the government of wrongly accusing him of the vice.

Ngilu spoke after appearing at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi instead accused the government of bias in the fight against corruption.

She said this after a section of Jubilee MPs accused Kalonzo of land grabbing in which a parcel of land belonging to the National Youth Service NYS in Yatta was allegedly grabbed.

" They are saying that Kalonzo was given NYS land in Yatta. That land belongs to the Kamba people and we cannot grab our own land," she said amid.

Ngilu was in court for the mention of a case in which she is charged with blocking investigations into the KES 8 billion Karen land.

She together with other ministry officials have been charged with obstructing EACC detectives by directing her subordinates not to give them access to the land’s records and advising them against recording statements with the detectives.

Ngilu also accused the government of protecting some from accusations of corruption and at the same time hanging her out to dry.

In what was a veiled hit at Devolution CS Anne Waiguru, Ngilu said that the government was not serious in the fight against corruption.

The incident comes just a few weeks after Kalonzo accompanied Ngilu to court in defence of her corruption allegations at the Lands Ministry.
