Kajwang threatens to sue Duale over corruption claims

Nairobi - Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang has threatened to sue Majority leader Aden Duale over claims there was grand corruption in the immigration ministry while he was minister.
Duale on Wednesday said that there was evidence in the hands of the Jubilee administration that pointed to grand corruption in the immigration department during Kajwang's time as minister in the grand coalition government.
He said that there was evidence that Kajwang had granted many undeserving individuals work permits to stay in the country.
But in a rejoinder Thursday, Kajwang hit back at Duale, claiming that he had insulted him by naming him in such a scam.
He further promised to sue him if he does not produce the evidence he says he has regarding the matter.
" I ask him to prepare for court if he does not produce the evidence he says he has, Kajwang said in Nairobi.
" It is an allegation that gravely concerns me, my family and the people of Homa Bay County. He should come forward with the evidence he has or else I will follow it up in court, he added.
The tale is the latest in a spate of mud slinging between the ruling Jubilee coalition and their CORD counterparts over corruption in the last government.
Former lands minister James Orengo has already been accused of playing a part in the grabbing of land in Lamu, of which he has been ordered to record a statement about.
