Nairobi - Orange Democratic Movement's Moses Kajwang took the early lead as vote counting in the Homa Bay Senatorial by election begun.

Kajwang had a healthy lead of 14,760 votes to nearest opponent Philip Okundi of the Maendeleo Party of Kenya who had garnered 3471 votes.
The early lead of over 10,000 votes has given Kajwang's supporters a boost as they try ensure the seat, left vacant by the death of the late Gerald Otieno Kajwang, Moses' elder brother.
There were no reports of violence during the day as voting took place, though very few people turned up to vote.
According to reports, the expected number of persons who voted was expected to hover around the 30% mark.
The County has just over 330,000 registered voters.
