Nairobi - Deputy Inspector General of Police Grace Kaindi was not attacked in Turkana, Inspector General Joseph Boinett has insisted.
There were reports Friday that suggested that Kaindi and the Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Osman Warfa were attacked during their recent visit in the affected area as they sought to react to the killing of 79 people in bandit attacks in the region last week.
Boinett, in a press release stated that it was misleading to state that the two were attacked and called the reports baseless.
" I am dismayed at reports that senior police officers including the Deputy IG and Rift Valley Coordinator were attacked by bandits. Those reports are totally misleading and far from the truth, as well as lacking in facts."
" It is misleading to publish any information to the effect the two officers were attacked, and I urge those in positions to do so to cease," he stated.
Kaindi and Warfa were said to have escaped death after they run into a group of bandits and that they were roughed up.
Kaindi herself had earlier come out on social media to rubbish the claims.
