Kaindi heads to court to challenge Uhuru decision

Nairobi - Deposed Deputy Inspector General of Police Grace Kaindi has sued the National Police Service for her dismissal from office, saying it is illegal.
Kaindi set forth the application as a matter or urgency Tuesday saying that she had been illegally fired from office.
She was sacked last week in a decision announced by State House as one seeking to ensure reforms are put in place at the service.
Kaindi however says that there has been no respect of her contract, which was to run from 2013 to 2018.
" I signed a contract with NPS in 2013 and was to retire in 2018, thus the move to retire me has come as a shock and is unlawful," she said in her application.
Kaindi was replaced by Joel Kitili.
According to Kaindi, her removal was also disrespectful to her.
" I was treated in a manner short of respectful to my office and basic rights," she added.
The matter will be heard Thursday after Kaindi serves the persons mentioned in the case with the suit papers.
The sacking has been contested by the opposition as well as women's groups over the manner of the dispute.
