Kwale - Kwale county MCAS have linked KWS officers with 15 murders reported recently in Samburu Chengoni and Mackinnon ward in Kinango constituency.
Samburu Chengoni ward representative, Kombo Chirema said area residents are living in constant fear following the death of 15 innocent herd men who are suspected to have been murdered by KWS officers.
While introducing a new Bill at the Kwale county assembly chambers, Chirema said there was need to stop the killings and asked that a committee be formed to investigate the KWS officers.
“Innocent people have been shot dead and linked to poaching. We need that stop,” said Chirema.
The Bill was immensely supported by the county assembly legislators who faulted the KWS officers in the region for continued mistreatment of residents who largely depend on hunting for survival.
The MCAs said majority of those killed have been mistakenly linked to elephant poaching yet there is no prove to ascertain such allegations.
