KRA opens support centre in Nyeri

Nyeri - The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has opened an ITax support center in Nyeri town as part of its reforms programme.
The acting Deputy Commissioner in charge of ITax roll out system, Elizabeth Meyo said the centre is aimed at improving service delivery to taxpayers.
Speaking after opening the support centre, Meyo said ITax would enable public interact with KRA online as she urged them to embrace it as a technological advancement.
She noted that cyber café operators who were issuing KRA registration pins will not be affected or be rendered jobless with the introduction of the support centre.
“The centre is not meant to outdo the cyber cafés issuing registration pins. We trained cyber café attendants to be our agents and we shall continue working together,” she stated.

“The support centre will be used in filing annual returns and application of tax compliant certificates among other services,” said Meya
Other similar centres have been opened in the Coast region, Western, North Eastern and Nairobi.
KRA has recruited about 70 new officers to operate the support centres and assist in its roll out.
