KNUT: Give more pay to teachers with further studies

23 December 2013, 15:18 Evans Langat

Bomet - The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) has asked the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to recognize qualifications of teachers who have furthered their studies.
Knut executive secretary Wilson Sosion says it is the right of teachers who have furthered their studies to get a pay increase and promotion.
Sosion said starting January it shall not be business as usual if TSC fails to respond to Knut’s letter by 31st midnight this month.
Speaking to reporters in Bomet, he disclosed that they wrote to TSC during the 56th Knut Annual delegates’ conference that was held in Nakuru.
According to Sosion, teachers who further their studies should be recognized by the government as enshrined in the schemes of service.
“Knut’s national executive council will declare an industrial dispute against TSC if it fails to honor our letter because this is a right of the teachers and it is within the code of regulation.
He accused TSC of laxity when it comes to fulfilling its pledge to teachers, a situation he said shalll not be tolerated by the Kenya Nation Union of Teachers.
