19 September 2014, 09:31 Nechesa Chemoi

Nairobi - Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) will not tolerate staff who are enslaved by substance abuse.

KNH Chief Executive Officer Lily Koros Tare warned that the Hospital will not spend resources to rehabilitate staff who have adopted and refused to change their life style.

“Substance abuse is a life style by choice and KNH will not spend patients’ resources to nurse individual behavior,” said Tare.

The CEO regretted that substance abuse among the employees contribute to low productivity, absenteeism, petty crimes and further dismal overall corporate performance.

She added that while the society constitutes good and bad characters. It is common understanding that the two must be separated.

“We are committed to ensure that non-conformance individuals do not “play” from within the many good employees,” she said.
