Nairobi - The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) Director General,Zachary Mwangi has said that talks are underway with East African countries to have a regional standards for goods.
Mwangi said the Bureau has achieved a lot in its mandates to ensure citizens get access to high quality products hence need to negotiate with other countries to have a harmonized standard in this era of free flow of goods.
"KEBS has achieved much in ensuring high quality products are consumed by citizens. We are therefore in the process of attaining a regional standard,"said Mwangi.
He stated that KEBS is going to ensure that all government Ministries and Agencies have at least 10 officers equipped with information security management skills to assist in dealing with cyber-crime misinformation.
"Lack of information or its distraction is very devastating to national security, socioeconomic and political challenges. So far 278 public servants have completed the information security management training to help solve such problems," said Mwangi.
He was speaking during the Information Security Management forum where he called on the public to embrace and use technological information responsibly.
