KCB embarks on a jigger eradication campaign

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB)Malaba Branch employees will on Saturday lead a jigger eradication campaign at Kiriko Primary School in Malaba South ward.
The Branch Manager, Oliver Alliangana said the event is sponsored by KCB Foundation in conjunction with Ahadi Kenya through the assistance of field officers from Life Straw Kenya.
Alliangana said it is not the first jigger eradication campaign the Foundation is sponsoring in the area in line with their social corporate responsibility.
“In 2012, we partnered with Life straw Kenya and held such a function in Akiriamasit sub-Location where we treated about 1 000 infected persons, most of whom were children,” he said.
“This is just a follow up activity and in line with our policy of caring for the community in which we operate,” the branch manager said.
He added, “While serving the community, we came across severely infected persons particularly school going children some of whom have even dropped out of school because of this disease.”
“It is because of the very high jigger infestation rate in Teso that we decided to have this activity, “ he noted, adding that they are targeting 600 children and about 700 adults.
He sent an olive branch to the Busia County Government for supporting the initiative.
