Judicial Service Week launched in Nyeri

Nyeri - The Judicial Service Week has been launched at Nyeri law courts by area High Court Resident Judge, Justice James Wakiaga.
During the week running till October 17, four judges are expected to handle 75 criminal appeals pending in court which were occasioned by election petitions.
Speaking during the launch outside the courts on Monday morning, Wakiaga however said the judiciary department in the region plans to conduct a similar exercise for lands and succession matters.
He said the move will help reduce the backlog of cases involving lands within the region.
In the court, he observed, majority of the cases concern land and succession therefore demanding arbitration.
He said the civil matters will only be mentioned at the High Court registrar’s office for purposes of allocating dates of hearing since they have devoted the week to criminal appeals only.
