Judge to review case file of convicted KDF soldier

Mombasa - A Mombasa High Court has ordered for the original case file of a former Kenya Defence Forces soldier who was sentenced to life imprisonment at the Mtongwe Naval Base.
Justice Martin Muya directed that the file be availed at the court on 22, October, 2014, after the former soldier Lieutenant Jeffery Okurich moved to the court to challenge the life sentence.
Jutice Muya said needs to familiarize himself with the decision upon which the court reached the conviction before the case begins.
Okurich was convicted to a life imprisonment by Senior Principal Magistrate Joyce Gandani at the martial court at Mtongwe Naval base in Mombasa.

The applicant had been charged for absconding from duty contrary to section 74 of the KDF act.
