Nairobi - The Jubilee Alliance Party JAP triumphed over close rivals the Orange Democratic Movement ODM in the Oloolua Ward by elections.
JAP candidate Martin Antony Njogu Kimemia is the new Member of County Assemblies MCA for Oloolua which is in Kajiado North Constituency, Kajiado County.
Kimemia garnered 2,870 votes to see off ODM’s Abdirahman Awadh came second with 1,269 votes.
The election was conducted peacefully and without any gaping incidences. Awadh was second in JAP nominations but decamped to ODM.
Joshua Orinah Obegih (Independent) came third with 299 votes, Paul Khayanje Opiayo, 56 votes, Peter
Wambua Nyamai (Maendeleo Democratic Party) 25 votes and Stephen
Oloishorua ole Lemaiyan who landed 17 votes.
The ward has 13,403 registered voters, with 19 polling stations but only 4366 votes were cast in the elections.
The seat fell vacant following the death of George Ndungu Nyoike who was killed in a road accident.
The win for JAP softened slightly the blow of losing the Kajiado Central by elections to ODM earlier in the year and ensured that it retained its number of seats in the Kajiado County Assembly.
