Jubilee chief tells Ruto to snub ICC trial

Nairobi - Kenya needs to find out why the International Criminal Court ICC is trying to fix Deputy President William Ruto, a Jubilee coalition Senator has said.
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen believes that there is a conspiracy behind Ruto's continued frustration with the ongoing Crimes Against Humanity Case at the ICC.
Murkomen believes that the fact that the trial judges have agreed to admit recanted evidence was proof that something was amiss.
" I think that it has become obvious that the ICC is serving Geo political interests and looking to further neo-colonialism," he told News24 on phone.
" The ICC must tell us and explain the issue of recanted evidence and why it has been used to further the case. Who are these witnesses and why are they being supported in the manner they are," he added.
The trial judges last week chose to admit the evidence of 6 witnesses back in Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang's case.
Murkomen insists that unless the ICC explains its scandalous decisions, then United Republican Party URP will ask Ruto not to attend the trial.
" If not, then a decision to that effect will have to be made," he added.
They cited the fact that the six had sworn they were saying the truth initially as reason for the decision.
The decision has caused uproar in Ruto's camp and a sense of injustice over the matter.
The government has said that it will appeal the decision to have the recanted evidence used in the trial.
