Jubilee can investigate Muthama, Khalwale says

25 September 2015, 18:53 Victor Tinto

Nairobi - The Jubilee coalition can investigate Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama all they want but he is has said nothing wrong, Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale has said.

According to Khalwale, Muthama and CORD leaders' comments on the day do not have any bad meaning if they are looked at in the right manner.

Muthama has been censured for allegedly calling Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru President Uhuru Kenyatta's girlfriend during a rally at Uhuru Park Wednesday.

But Khalwale insists that if the authorities find any fault in Muthama's statements, they are out of line.

" Muthama was exercising his Constitutional right of speaking his mind and cannot and should not be punished," he said.

He also said that Muthama's utterances should be investigated for what they mean and not what people want them to mean.

" If they analyse the comments they will see that he stated something factual and it is important that the meaning is not lost in all this melee," he added.

The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP as well as the National Integration Commision has said it will investigate Muthama's comments.

Muthama did not hide his frustration at the fact that Waiguru was being supposedly favoured by the government.

" She is corrupt but continues being protected time after time by who? Can Uhuru tell us?" he added.

Waiguru has been under pressure in recent times to quit office after it was announced that KES 791 million was lost by the National Youth Service which lies under her Devolution docket.

She has so far protested her innocence in the matter.
