Jubilee Senator warns Raila against attacking Waiguru over NYS scam

Nairobi – Nominated Senator, Beth Mugo has warned CORD leader, Raila Odinga against his constant attack on Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru over the KES 791 million loss at National Youth Service (NYS).
Mugo accused Odinga of engaging in “witch-hunting theatrics” and claimed that he is only afraid of Waiguru’s outstanding performance through her initiation of NYS projects that have transformed lives of many jobless youths and slum areas including Kibera.
“Raila Odinga’s allegations that Waiguru is being shielded are false and unfounded because she herself is the one who called for investigations into the conspiracy to defraud the National Youth Service,” said Mugo.
She accused Odinga of failing to transform Kibera slum as a long serving area MP and when he became the Prime Minister, hence asked him to leave Waiguru alone to serve citizens.

“Even with the CDF allocations, he did not give Kibera a better look. If anything, all he did was to constantly incite the tenants against landlords,” claimed Mugo.
She also reminded Odinga that during his tenure as the Prime Minister, he did not step aside after his office was implicated with the importation of harmful aflatoxin contaminated maize haul which had to be shipped back to the country of origin.
“He did not even volunteer information on the maize scam despite the fact that lives of millions of Kenyans were at risk should the maize have found its way into the market. Raila is therefore applying double standards,” said Mugo.
She further defended Waiguru on grounds that ministers are not mostly engaged in daily activities of the ministry hence taking long to realize where there is a mess, saying Waiguru learnt there was a conspiracy to defraud NYS and promptly called the CID to investigate the matter.
Mugo was addressing the media at Parliament Buildings.
