Jubilee MPs to name corruption list

08 June 2015, 13:20 William Korir

Nairobi - Starehe MP Maina Kamanda says he will name a list of persons he claims are influencing prosecution of Jubilee Coalition personalities in the war against graft.

Kamanda speaking in Nairobi Sunday, stated that the persons whom he claims are businessmen, have influenced the naming of the Jubilee legislators in the List of Shame fronted by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC.

" I will name the persons behind the fixing of Jubilee legislators in the list of shame," he claimed.

Kamanda stated that the fact that only one senior official had been finally prosecuted by the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP pointed to a scam to fix the legislators and taint the name of the government.

" This is a plot to derail and shame the Jubilee government and we will not condone it," he added.

So far, only Transport Cabinet Secretary Michael Kamau has been officially prosecuted over corruption, with all other senior officials' cases being dropped for various reasons.

Kamanda's Kasarani counterpart John Njoroge further claimed that the businessmen are two in number.

" We know them and their names and Kenyans will be told who they are," he also claimed.

The EACC initially named 175 public officials as taking place in corrupt activities but only a handful have been prosecuted, with many being released over lack of evidence.
