Nairobi - Jubilee Coalition MP's support the bid by the CORD coalition to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta it has emerged.
According to minority Senate leader and CORD Co Principal Moses Wetang'ula, the move by CORD to censure Uhuru over his blatant refusal to pay teachers is supported by Jubilee leaders too.
According to the Bungoma Senator, Jubilee leaders too want teachers paid their dues.
" Someone will ask how we will push the motion without the numbers. We have strong support from Jubilee leaders too," he told News24.
He stated that the motion was not political but a national issue and that the best resolution for all would be for teachers to be paid.
" We all want teachers to be paid. No one wants them to suffer and they have legitimate and lawful reasons to argue that they need to be paid, so be it," he added.
It is understood that some leaders from the Rift Valley are for the motion but just how many remains to be seen.
To get the motion to go through, CORD will need a two thirds majority, one they will only get with Jubilee support.
Teachers were handed a 50/60% pay-rise by the Labour Court which was then agreed to by the Supreme Court but the government argues that it has no money and that the pay-rise is unsustainable.
Teachers have thus been on a three week strike which has crippled the education sector and threatens to derail upcoming national exams.
