Nairobi - Kajiado North MP Moses Ole Sakuda says that Lands CS Charity Ngilu has frustrated efforts into the Karen land grabbing incident.
Sakuda, a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Lands says that efforts by his team to conduct investigations into the incident at the Lands Ministry did not bear fruit because of Ngilu's misdemeanours.
He insisted that Ngilu had intimidated her staff from saying anything incriminating.
" In my view there was a well calculated move by the CS to obstruct
any investigations into this land. I say that because when the officers
appeared before us they were reluctant to release any information that
we required, he said as the House started debating the report by the Committee on the 138 acre piece of land.
Ngilu has also been accused by the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP of frustrating efforts by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC's efforts to investigate the matter.
She has since been charged in court over the matter.
On their part, MPs stated that they failed to find out who owns the 8 billion piece of land and stated that it would ask the EACC to determine the owner.
" We have failed to determine the real owners of the land and ask that the EACC conducts a forensic audit to find out, Committee chairman Alex Mwiru said.
Ngilu and other senior public officials have been linked to the grabbing of the piece of land, including Deputy President William Ruto.
