Joho to face EACC grilling Tuesday
20 April 2015, 13:17
Nairobi - Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho will attend the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC summon Tuesday as he tries to clear his name off corruption allegations.
The Governor will be only the second one to attend the summon after his Nairobi counterpart Evans Kidero last week.
Joho is accused of abuse of office and inflating prices of tenders in his County.
He has thus far stated his innocence.
" I will be at the Integrity Centre tomorrow @ 10am to record a statement
and clear my name once and for all over the baseless allegations," he said Monday on his Twitter feed.
Governors have refused to heed the order by president Uhuru Kenyatta that all those mentioned in the EACC report step aside and await investigations.
Only Cabinet Secretaries, Permanent Secretaries and parastatal head as well as a handful of MPs have thus far resigned.
