Joho confident in Mombasa's ability to host CECAFA

11 November 2013, 13:48 Sumba Bwire

Mombasa- Mombasa Governor Hon Ali Hassan Joho says that the County is heading in the right direction in terms of development and urged potential investors to come on board in helping the growth of the Coastal city.

Joho spoke while inspecting the progress made in the renovation of the Mombasa Municipal Stadium on Sunday as the city aims to play host to the upcoming CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

He said that the County is ready for business and added that he will soon come up with a master- plan to accelerate growth in the region.

“We have a great plan to improve the city of Mombasa and by hosting events such as the Challenge Cup, we are moving in the right direction, he said.

“What is important is that we get support from various stakeholders because we need them to build the County. With them, there is no reason why Mombasa can’t  be regarded as one of the best in the region in a number of years.

As for the tourney. he added that he is confident Mombasa will deliver if given the opportunity.

" The framework is here in Mombasa. I'm confident we will do a great job if we get the opportunity.

Joho’s impromptu tour took workers at the renovation site by surprise as last minute rennovations to ensure it is ready for the championships. The stadium is set to be officially re-opened on Sunday November 17, 2013.

The governor was flanked by billionaire business partner, tycoon, philanthropist and political financier Ali Punjani who also pledged his support to improving the fortunes of the county.
