Joho becomes the first governor for Mombasa county

08 March 2013, 16:11 Rodgers Buluma

The first holder of the gubernatorial seat in Mombasa County has called on the other contestants to work with him close to bring the County on its feet.

Ali Hassan Joho added that the County is too large for him to work alone and would need a helping hand to make a success of what is expected out of the county.

Joho has promised to throw up a party in celebration of his successful win over the other seven contestants.

Speaking to the media yesterday, Ali Hassan Joho, the official governor of Mombasa, has confirmed that he is making arrangements for the people of Mombasa county to celebrate with him for the victory attained.

Meanwhile, one of the other gubernatorial contestants, Suleiman Shabaal, has pledged to go to court to challenge the election of Ali Hassan Joho as the first governor of Mombasa County.

Shaabal claims that the votes were not counted fairly and that Ali Hassan bribed the voters to be elected the governor.

As this happens, normalcy is returning in Mombasa as those who had travelled home return to town in large numbers.

Shops and other businesses have reopened and the streets booming back to life after several days of dormancy.

Despite the normalcy being restored, nothing is being left for granted as far as security is concerned as choppers are seen patrolling the sky in Mombasa as people await the final presidential tally.
