I've never missed parliamentary sessions, insists Oburu

Kisumu - Nominated MP, Dr. Oburu Odinga has refuted media reports that he had missed parliamentary sessions for eight consecutive days saying that such allegations are meant to tarnish his name.
Addresing the press in Kisumu, he termed the allegations as malicious and dangerous saying they should be treated with a lot of contempt.
Oburu added that he had served in parliament for the past 20 years and has had no record of neglect of duty.
“For the past four terms in parliament, I have dutifully served my Bondo constituents and such allegations are serious and aimed at portraying me as a dishonest person who earns allowances illegally,” he said.
Oburu further said that he is a member of the Parliamentary Investment Committee (PIC) and Trade and Tourism Committee and has done his duties well apart from the few occasions he was out of the country on official duty.
“I was only away on September 28 to Sweden with PIC and last week to Greece when we left for official duties organised by Parliament,” he explained.
The nominated MP explained that he had written letters to the speaker of Parliament, clerk and records office to establish the origin of such reports but the same have denied.
The elder brother to former PM Raila Odinga blamed such allegations on his political enemies and those of his brother all aimed at intimidating him since the time he boldly came out to say there was a plot to assassinate Raila.
He at the same time argued that such allegations might be aimed at intimidating CORD leaders from carrying out their rallies in demand for National dialogue.
“This is a miscalculation of the highest order because I do not think my brother Raila will be intimidated simply because I have lost my seat,” he said.
Oburu demanded immediate apology from Citizen TV, Ramogi radio and the People Daily newspaper, threatening to sue them in case they failed to do so.
