Nairobi - An Italian man was shot dead in cold blood at his Nairobi home by unknown gunmen, police have confirmed.
Police named the man Paulo Rusconi and said he was shot dead twice in the chest by the gunmen at around 3 AM Monday morning at the Valley View Estate.
Nothing was stolen from the Italian man and there was no sign of forced entry, police added.
The Italian was a real estate dealer, neighbours said.
Athi River OCPD Kizito Mutoro told News24 on phone that the assailants escaped via foot after the attack and that police were following possible leads to the death.
" It looks like murder because there was no forced entry and also nothing was stolen," he said.
Rusconi lived alone.
Police say that the murder could be linked to land deals which he might have negotiated or dealt with.
Land dealers have in the past been killed on a number of occasions due to the complex nature of the deals. Just recently, a Nairobi land dealer was shot dead in cold blood along Forest Road in Nairobi in what was believed to be a botched land deal.
