Nairobi - Irrational games, the studio best known for its video game franchise BioShock, has announced it is shutting down.
director Ken Levine explained that though he has enjoyed quite a bit of success
with Irrational, he feels that he needs to move and to start making a slightly
different type of game. He says that he wants to re- focus his energies on a
smaller team which would work closely with the gamer community in the making of
more narrative based and highly repayable games.
having grossed a total of half a billion dollars in sales since 2008, has been
one of the studios largest success stories. The three sequels, BioShock,
Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite have received quite a number of awards
including Spike TV’s Video Games Awards game
of the year, Best Xbox 360 game and
best original score. It has also been
nominated for four awards: Best Shooter, Best Graphics, Best
PC Game, Best Soundtrack.
closure of Irrational Games Studio however does not mean the end of the game
franchise. Bioshock goes on under 2K games and is scheduled to release the
final DLC for Bioshock Infinite, its latest installment, on March 25, 2014 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
