Integrity issues bar Waititu from taking up parastatal post

Nairobi - Ferdinand Waititu has been barred by a Nairobi court from assuming office as the chairman of the Athi Water and Sewerage Services Board (AWSSB).
The former Embakassi MP had been appointed to the position by president Uhuru Kenyatta but a pending court case has stopped his ascension until it is heard and determined.
A Mr Ben Muriithi has filed a suit in court in which he claims that Waititu grabbed a piece of land belonging to him.
Justice Mumbi Ngugi in her ruling said that it was improper for Waititu to assume office until the case pending against him was heard. The case will be determined Wednesday next week, January 22.
Waititu's appointment is contained in Gazette Notice No. 115 dated 10th January 10, 2014 in which he was appointed on a three year contract.
The question of integrity before assuming public office has been in the public domain in recent times with NACADA chair John Mututho also being forced to step aside from his appointment following parliament's complaints over his integrity.
