Infidelity is more than what we all think

30 July 2014, 13:40 Mubweka Orodi

Trust, honesty, love and such traits are sought after by everyone searching for a partner to settle down with. The list is endless. However, no one seems to bag a partner with all the desired traits.

Human beings were made in God’s image and this simply translates to the fact that we are all beautifully and wonderfully made. Accepting this absolute truth is of the essence if one is to settle happily with his or her partner for the rest of their lives.

Coming down to the standards and ideologies of mankind that have perverted our thinking patterns, there are copious reasons that set base for cheating and perfidy. One thing remains clear that it is neither a man’s thing nor a woman’s norm. When one strays, it is personal and individualistic; it is the reasons behind the disloyalty that have corrupted our values and cultures.

Among the most common reasons is that men are ‘built that way’. Men were created to enjoy plenty. Since the times of Abraham and before, men were accustomed to marrying many wives or having one wife and a number of concubines or cohorts that could sire him additional children and most importantly help the lady of the house with house chores. They were young and beautiful ladies who pleasured the man after the wife had grown too old to practice some of the desired stunts.

Men were not created to cheat but rather we embrace that phrase to cover up the desire we have for the variety of women we long for. Men long for variety and that is in the mind. We think that a differently shaped lady will quench our thirst better than the lady we are used to. Whenever a lady passes by and she looks nothing like what a man is used to, he will want to conquer her and taste the pie.

It is in our genetics to boast of our successes and achievements. As men, we love to scale new heights and mark our territories. That is why war is associated with men rather than ladies. Whenever a man spots a nice looking lady and confirms that his gang of friends considers her a catch, he will not think of his wife or even the mistress in his office. He will quickly lay down a plan to ensure that he bags her before any other man. If she is taken, he might even try to topple the ‘unknown’ government.

‘Making love’ as is often referred to by ladies means a great deal of things. What is certain is that between men and women, sexual intercourse does not mean the same thing whether married or single. To the ladies, sex is an emotional activity and by extent serves as a tool to get ahead with demands from their partner. On the other hand, sex according to a majority of men is a pleasure activity. Men love to have sex and when they are done they do not want to talk about anything but just lay still and regain composure. We do not view it as a tool to get ahead or connect emotionally but as an item of necessity to release our energies and pleasure our whole being.

It is not about wives being fat or obese and neither is it about agreeing to stay faithful. Infidelity is more than what we think. Not even the dress code of a lady can explain the unfaithfulness orchestrated by men around the world. Maybe we were designed to enjoy variety or maybe we are just developing excuses for our treachery but one thing is certain, a woman who is adulterous is condemned across the board.
