A 22 year-old man in Nkaane Location of Imenti North District of Meru County was burnt beyond recognition after his timber house caught fire over the weekend.
Confirming the Sunday 9pm incident, area OCPD James Kithuka said the victim, Sammy Muriki, is reported to have gone home drunk on the fateful night.
The victim’s mother, Agnes Kathure, is said to have been woken up by smoke from her son’s burning house but it was too late to salvage anything from the inferno.
Following the incident Kithuka has cautioned young men in the area against consuming illicit brews urging them to instead engage in worthwhile income generating activities in support for the country’s development.
Meanwhile the police boss confirmed that the suspect in connection to yesterday’s 1.5million counterfeit currency found in Kooje estate within Meru Town is still at large.
He called for cooperation from the public to enable the police apprehend those in attempt to commit crimes in the region.
