Impeaching Uhuru isn’t a walk in the park, says Duale

Nairobi - National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale has said impeaching President Uhuru Kenyatta will not be a walk in the park for the opposition.
Speaking in Nairobi Thursday, Duale said Cord lacks the basis to impeach President Kenyatta and dared them to table the proposed impeachment motion against him in Parliament.
“There are laid down procedures that should be followed to impeach a sitting president, not the sideshows we are seeing from Cord.
“As a matter of fact, the impeachment debate is only discussed in political rallies and the media. They should go ahead and table it in Parliament for us to shoot it down immediately,” Duale said.

According to Duale, the proposed motion by ODM Chairman, John Mbadi is mere politics, and Jubilee is ready for a political showdown if it is tabled in Parliament.
“I want to assure all Kenyans that such a motion will to even reach to the table of the Speaker because we have the numbers.
“This has a lot to do with politics and I am confidently telling Cord to bring it on and let us face-off,” Duale said.
Cord wants President Kenyatta impeached for gross violation of the constitution after the government failed to obey a court order that gave striking teachers a 50-60 percent pay rise.
