Illicit brewer fined KES 15K

Nyeri - A man has been fined KES 15 000 or in default serve five months in prison after he admitted to charges of possessing illicit brews.
It is alleged that James Ng’ang’a was found in possession of five litres of chang’aa on July at Gituri village in Murang’a County.
Giving the facts of the case, the prosecutor Joyce Gathara told the court that the accused was arrested by his area chief with the help of administration police officers after they got a tip from members of the public.

The confiscated brew was presented in court as exhibit.
However, in mitigation Ng’ang’a pleaded for leniency before Chief Magistrate Lucy Mutai saying he was doing the business to support his family.
