IEBC sets date for Kabete by-election

Nairobi - The Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has set 4 May, 2015 as the date for the by-election in Kabete constituency.
In a statement, the commission said the by-election for the Oloolua Ward Member of County Assembly in Kajiado North constituency will also be held on the same date.
“Those wishing to vie as Independent Candidates are required to submit their symbols and seek clearance from the Registrar of Political Parties on or before 16th March, 2015,” the statement said.
“Each Political Party wishing to participate in the elections must finalize the nominations and determine intra-party disputes arising from party nomination of its candidate(s) on or before 19th March, 2015."

According to the IEBC, candidates who will have been nominated will have to submit their nomination papers to the commission on 6th and 7th April 2015 while the official campaign period will commence on 8th April, 2015 and end on 2nd May, 2015.
Kabete is a constituency in Kiambu County with a total of 62,454 registered voters while Oloolua County Assembly Ward is in Kajiado North Constituency, Kajiado County.
The Kabete MP and Oloolua MCA seats fell vacant following the deaths of George Muchai and George Nyoike respectively.
