IEBC postpones Homa Bay elections
19 December 2014, 16:30
Nairobi - The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC has postponed the Homa Bay elections by ten days.
In a press statement Friday, the IEBC attributed the change in date to the need to give parties time to extend their nomination processes.
This follows a High Court ruling that forced the IEBC to postpone the date for nomination by 10 days from December 19 to December 29 2014.
The Orange Democratic Movement ODM had complained that the time allocated for nomination was too short.
The High court thus Wednesday allowed the nomination period to be extended by the period.
The election will be held following the death of former Senator Otieno Kajwang who died last month of Cardiac arrest.
