Kenyans in the diaspora may not vote online in the coming general elections after Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) rejected their support.
In a meeting on Saturday with Kenya Diaspora Movement (KDM) president,13 other members on Kenya Diaspora Alliance(KDA) and IEBC chairman in Washinton DC, Kenyans in the diaspora offered to pay for the infrastructure and software development to ensure all Kenyans abroad can vote online, but the offer was rejected.
IEBC chairman, Isaak Hassan rejected the offer saying IEBC is not allowed to out-source any services.
Addressing the meeting, Robison Gichuhi, said: "Though we will be able to register and vote at Embassies & Consulates, we must continue the pressure and get the two principles to agree on how the Diaspora will be able to fully exercise their constitutional right from the comfort of their own homes."
