IEBC: No link to any election malpractice
03 March 2013, 09:27
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Nyeri County returning officer has said all electoral malpractices reported to the regional office have no link to any candidate.
The officer was reacting upon claims by TNA gubernatorial aspirant Wahome Gakuru who had claimed the regional office is reluctant in taking action on Elections Act offenders.
Gakuru said his competitors are dishing out money to voters in areas like Kieni and Mweiga.
The aspirant has been dodging complaints to the office since he began his campaigns but none has ever been effected.
Speaking in Karatina market during his final campaigns, Gakuru said all aspirants pledged to observe and abide by the code of conduct provided by the polls body.
He is battling it out with former Mathira MP Nderitu Gachagua of GNU party, industrialist Thuo Mathenge of Sabasaba Asili and Njururi Mtahi of Narc Kenya.
