IDP's march to Waiguru's office, demand KES 10 billion payment

Nairobi - Internally Displaced Persons IDP's marched to the office of Devolution CS Ann Waiguru to demand payment of KES 10 billion to help their relocation.
The IDP's were displaced during the 2008 Post Election Violence and have yet to be fully resettled despite numerous promises to.
They stated their displeasure at the lack of movement from the Devolution CS over five months after President Uhuru Kenyatta promised them the KES 10 billion to help them resettle.
The IDP's marched from Uhuru Park through the Central Business District carrying placards written "We want compensation, we have been forgotten".
The IDP's demanded to be addressed by Waiguru on their compensation and resettlement but the CS was unavailable to address them.
Waiguru was at the same time attending a meeting between Deputy President William Ruto and Governors, held at his home in Karen and officials at the ministry said that she would address them about their grievances once she returned.
Treasury allocated KES 2.6 billion in the recent budget reading to the resettlement of IDP's.
Some of them stated a plot to deny them the funds by certain individuals in government.
" We have been told that some persons in government are trying hard to ensure that they take all the money away and we will not sit here and allow it to happen," Jacinta Ngugi an IDP told News24.
They vowed to return Wednesday to seek audience with Waiguru over the matter.
