Nairobi - A witness has admitted that he lied about the evidence he gave to the International Criminal Court ICC in the case against deputy president William Ruto.
Witness number 604, testifying via video link from Nairobi admitted that he had lied about his evidence against Ruto.
He says that he did so because of his hatred for the vice president.

And in a damning indictment of the prosecution team, he says that even though he admitted that he had lied, he was told that he was okay and that he would be given goodies, a nice life, school for his children and asylum in a different country.
Prosecution lawyer Mr Anton Steynberg made an application that he be declared a hostile witness but Ruto's team led by laywer Karim Khan opposed the move saying that the new piece of evidence should be used in the case.
The new piece of evidence will be a boost to Ruto and his team, who have insisted in the past that the case against Ruto is unsubstantiated.
